Description:Jan, or Jon, Mieczkowski, was my great-grandfather. He came to Detroit from Poland, and was an active member of the Polish immigrant community. He was a painter, a sculptor, and an early fine-art photographer. He sang in a men's choir, and was a member of the Polish Falcons when they assisted Paderewski in defecting from Poland in protest.
